Billy On Okinawa.... Adding More Stories To Tell.........

"Once we meet we are brothers and sisters" this is the Okinawan belief. This blog is for the wholesome stories, one can tell their children. lol And by the way, just in case your wondering...I was asked for a nick name.. I said "Viry," they understood "Billy." So.. call me Billy as in "Billy Goat."

They are so Chi-sai!!!!

The new Ichi Nensais (7th gr.) are soooo totemo kawaii!(cute) They are soooo chi-sai!! (small) I really like teaching them: they like to participate, they are not shy and so far they seem like great kids! We had an opening ceremony for them, where Ni and San Nensai (8th and 9th gr.) welcomed them. The ceremony lasted for about 2 hours. In the meanwhile, I was stuck in a corner not understanding a single thing, sitting down and playing fake finger puppets. Ganbatte (good luck) speeches from Kocho and Kyoto Sensai (principle and vice), long and boring. Parents were happy and kept waving to their kids. At the end of the ceremony the 1st graders walked underneath a spiral of flowers held by the elder students while I shook all the kids hands. (thank God for anit-bacterial!)

Needless to say, I like these kids. They come up to my and try talk in Enlglish, not like the older kids who hide from me. So far this week, I have been invited to a tennis and volleyball match, which is exciting since i never get invited to play with them. I was also thinking about starting a cooking club with the 1st grade girls. Should be fun.
